- 1 package (16 oz) of phyllo dough
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup melted butter or olive oil
Instructions
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add ground meat, cooking until browned, then stir in parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper; let cool.
- Mix in feta cheese and beaten eggs.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and layer phyllo dough in a baking dish, brushing with butter.
- Spread the meat mixture over phyllo and cover with more layers, brushing each with butter.
- Cut top layers into squares and bake for 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Substitute ground beef with chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
