Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Combine warm milk and sugar in a bowl, sprinkle yeast on top, and let it foam for 5-10 minutes.
- Mix flour and salt in a large bowl, then add melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Stir to form dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans for the filling.
- Punch down the risen dough, roll it into a rectangle, and spread the filling over it. Roll tightly into a log.
- Cut the log into 12 pieces, place in a greased baking dish cut side up, and pour heavy cream over the top.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
- Letting the dough rise in a warm place is crucial for a good texture.
